In other words, he's been given numerous opportunities to win over enough fans on the strength of his own merits that the Creative Department will have to write storylines for him *because he is already over and fans demand to see him* instead of writing him into angles designed *to push him upon the audience because he isn't over.* This performer has failed at that every single time. That is why this is a bad thing. Going back to his early days and win over Cena, to his team with Waller, Theory has failed so thoroughly that I'm convinced he'll never be good.
The only thing that could've salvaged this reveal for me would've been if a second masked man assaulted Punk from behind instead of Bron. That would've made for the sort of cliffhanger ending HHH actually thinks he pulled off here. The questions over who these masked men are would drown out the "who gives a shit about Austin Theory?" questions. They can still do something like this, of course, but the execution has really been ass thus far.
