>>19512241>1:34:16This is a pretty telling part of the interview. Cena begins joking that Cody seems on the verge of wrapping up the show. This segues into a brief dialogue over the necessary grind that comes from being a top guy in the WWE. Cena remarks that all the top guys have their own unique approach to handling those responsibilities. But then Cena ABRUPTLY changes the subject because, sensing the interview is almost over, he wants to make sure the viewers hear his defense of the booking of his Farewell Tour.
It is pretty obvious that this part is heavily edited. It seems like any and all references to Rock have been cut. There is a mention of a failed effort to "mesh worlds" in a manner similar to the first Wrestlemania featuring Cindy Lauper and Liberace. The post-production cuts here probably chop up Cena's take on the role of Travis Scott in plans that apparently fell through. Cena's clear frustrations pretty much confirm the obvious that so many refused to confirm: the Rock was 100% supposed to be involved "through August" (Summerslam), but totally unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances took him off the show. Cena makes his case that the original plan may have deprived fans of the well-received programs with Orton, Punk, R-Truth, and Styles.
His closing lines of this (again, heavily cut up) part of the interview are bullshit rationalizations. He observes that fans are forgiving of storyline changes in the event that a performer gets shoot injured, like Seth being removed from the Vision/Punk program for now, but then asks:
>"What if it's an emotional injury? What if we deem things aren't working out? What if somebody says 'I just can't make it'? *Cena throws up his hands in exasperation* Like, it just doesn't work sometimes. And instead of bitching about what we coulda had, the imaginary thing, lookit what we got dawg."We got a mess that made no sense with some good moments here and there. Cena hears this, knows it's true, and it bothers him.
