>>19548107You’re blaming a character for the shortcomings of writers. Editorial at Marvel and DC is broken down by characters in groups. So the X-men have an office. Fantastic Four has an office but some other characters fall under it etc.
Superman had a notoriously shit editorial office for like 30 years in a row. They tried to pull a coup back near the millennium and install Tom Peyer with a Rotating squad of 4 writers spread across Action & Superman but it failed. What came out of the plans for that failed revamp was stuff like All-Star Superman, Birthright stuff that people really love.
Everyone sucks All Star’s dick but it really is the best. Obviously it’s hard to fail with 12 issues of Frank Quietly art but Morrison for all his dude meta work and his smoking crystal meth and claiming he’s going to bring the DC universe to sentience or whatever, he actually for awhile was mainlining a deeper truth about Superman. He’s the Ur-hero and the template for all cape shit. Superman is the guy who can solve problems by punching things. He’s not that untouchable Christ figure who’s supposed to inspire hope and who’s only interesting if you turn him evil or apply limitations to him. He didn’t star in Hope Comics he starred in Action Comics. He’s the guy that gets shit done when no one else can. He fights the impossible, that’s his real opposition. Like Batman’s opposition is mortality and being human.
