The real peak is between end of 2.0 - near the end of white and gold era, unspecified date. This is the peak because it's least like a developmental it ever was with a long stretch of draft draught meaning the talent was stuck there and they made the show their own thing as well as production leaning heavily on it and letting them work a almost experimental show. As long as the matches were solid the reason for having them could be fucking anything stupid.
And what a crazy stupid fun show it was for all the cartoon-like antics that were going on, it was more like Lucha Underground than a talent farm for main. Dijak matches, Peak Axiom and Fraz, chase U, parking lot attacks every show... So many highlights and weird feuds..
While I enjoy the show currently I can't help the b&w era of current lacks some of that brilliance and bravery on the production on CW, it's more tame and calculated
