What did people think of HHH 1995-1999 pre-Foley feud? I'm reading old newsletters and the perception seems to be

>97: less funny lackey, totally average in-ring

He was more popular than X-Pac and Chyna were in 1998-1999. Chyna only got super over in 1999 and HHH got super over as a heel with Stephanie.

Hunter was always seen as someone with big potential. There's a reason they wanted to push him as early as 1996 (halted by the Curtain Call). His ring work was very high level, maybe not super flashy but he could get a good match out of anyone.
