You had people clamoring for years to see him win it back. Then he does just to lose it to Samoa Joe of all people in like two or three months. Now neither Hangman OR Joe's title reign ever really got off the ground before it was done. I'm not someone who thinks title reigns should last years on end but at least let them get a few memorable feuds and defenses in. Otherwise the belts quickly lose meaning

The only successful defense he had was with a checked out Eddie Kingston in a mediocre match. Hook, who was the centerpiece of his winning the title for the second time, didn't come out any better from it, quite the opposite. The only thing it achieved was MJF getting his lick back, which could have happened at another time.
