also keep in mind that he had a “fighting champion” gimmick where he’d always put himself into the Elimination Chamber to prove he wasn’t scared of any of his challengers. So they technically saw him job a month before Mania in a multi-person match, even though he actually won the Chamber on two occasions if I recall
