I guess its cause their core identity and mantra is to reach out to the outcasts, as opposed to the sickos. So naturally, they would know about a presence here to get themselves some eyeballs on their product. I mean, independent wrestling in the US is dead at the moment so for them to still consider themselves outside of those that would be acquired by the major promotions under any other circumstance is quite the feat. By willingly hiring Russo, they've made themselves off limits to anyone serious, but its wrestling, so why take it seriously at all?
You know, if there's ever a pair of Hall of Fame candidates? Not that they would care at all of course, but its gotta be I.C.P. because they floated in and through all three of the major US promotions during The Attitude Era and of course never ended up getting their dues, despite them being shitters. What else is insane to comprehend is how their promotion is looming in on its 30th year anniversary.
