Keep in mind it has to be someone Tony doesn't care about jobbing out so MJF, Hangman, Swerve, Ospreay, and Okada are probably off the table.

Tony doesn't care that much about keeping guys safe in IWGP matches so most guys should be on the table. I feel like Okada vs Tsuji should happen sooner or later, could be saved for a big Japan show though.

Considering Tsuji shits on AEW you either need an AEW wrestler who prods Tsuji enough to get Tsuji to take the bait and have a match at Forbidden Door or it has to be a wrestler like Okada that Tsuji wants to pin to solidify his status as the future of New Japan. Otherwise Tsuji is just going to suffer the Gabe Kidd issue of shitting on AEW just to appear there right after.

You can't have that story because AEW are bitchmade. They're not gonna have the Forbidden Door story be the IWGP champion coming in shitting on the AEW partnership and then beating someone from AEW and leaving off into the sunset.

If you're a NJPW fan, the ideal is Tsuji doesn't show up at all and they don't even talk about it. It's not like it'd be that off character for them. Last year's already barely felt different from any other PPV AEW has.

I don’t think MJF will be champ by then.
Either way, someone is losing the AEW title to someone at forbidden door. I wish Naito wasn’t broken because him becoming AEW champion and treating it like shit in Japan for before Darby rescues it back would be Kino.
That being said, it makes sense for Kenny, Ospreay, or Jay White to be the AEW talent who has to drop to someone from NJPW

That would be pretty cool for once, and right up NJPW's alley as far stories are concerned. Make him into a heel who's known for constantly shitting on the company then put him into a good match where he's caught off guard and is nearly beaten. I wouldn't be against a match between a cocky Tsuji and a fired up Darby with a chip on his shoulder. Might actually get some heat on Forbidden Door for once.

Reminder they had the perfect opportunity to put the AEW title on Tanahashi a few years ago and for some reason just didn't do it. Even though the end result would have been the exact same (Punk with the belt then getting suspended)
