The Cena tournament should have been a year long and involved every guy on the roster, plus entrants from NXT and other promotions, and with a loser’s bracket. That way, there could be more buildup to the finale, more opportunities for wrestlers to develop their characters, storylines, connections to each other, and give a way to elevate a match’s stakes by declaring it a tournament match. You can spotlight guys who might not be getting that much attention, have surprising outcomes that see low-mid carders get through to the next bracket, and have non-WWE entrants raise their profile and build anticipation for their joining/return to the company.
So, I propose we run a year long tourney storyline that culminates in the last two competitors fighting for a special The Last Time is Now title. The victor of the loser’s bracket must win with two falls, while the winner’s bracket’s victor only needs one. You can even have Cena award the title to the winner.
Also, no more endless feuds. I feel like Alastair Black and Damian Priest almost exclusively fought each other for all of 2025.
