Can't say he was special in AEW either. He waited far too long to come back, and his embarrassment in MMA probably killed his spirit. Punk was a breath of fresh air back when he joined WWE, the SES gimmick was fire, his feud with Jeff Hardy was one of the best feuds in the company after the RA era, his feud with Cena and the pipe bomb promo and holding the belt up, so many great moments. And that's not even going into his time with ROH. But Punk is a shell of himself and he has been since before he returned to pro wrestling with AEW.
Cheering for Punk today is like cheering for The Dwayne.
