I'm not saying the Road Warriors weren't giga dimes but everything about them and how they got over just did not work in the WWF.
They were big dudes? Yeah but so were Undertaker and Kane and there were plenty of other guys who were close enough in size to them that it didn't have the same aura as crushing up random 5'11 territory guys who weighed 230lbs.
They smashed people up for real? Vince had his faults but he had no tolerance for guys hurting people by just going into business for themselves. The guys he put up with being reckless like Ahmed Johnson and Warrior were at least botching moves not shoot punching jobbers in the mouth and laughing it off. He soured on Vader pretty quickly for the same reason.
Them not selling shit was the real nail in the coffin. Unless you are going to feed the entire undercard to those guys then it just does not work. Vince's whole business model was built around guys who sell and he already had Kane and Undertaker as his big guys who were the exception to that. The match that actually completely killed LoD was them no selling the Brothers of Destruction. You can watch them get pissed in real time during that match and Hawk completely no selling a tombstone piledriver sealed their fate.
