Maki Ito Spills the Beans on Her “Shocking Joining”! Takes a Dig at Saya Kamitani: “I Did It First, Yet She Stole It”
Maki Ito (30), who competed in Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling, revealed the circumstances behind her joining Stardom. At the Tokyo Joshi Korakuen Hall event last August, she announced her contract with the promotion had ended after her final match against Yuki Arai. After competing overseas as well, why did Ito choose Stardom as her new home? We caught up with her immediately after the event.
Your contract with Tokyo Joshi ended last August.
>Ito: It wasn't due to any scandal; it simply ended as a contract expiration. Reason? Well... if I were to say what's good about here (Stardom), for example, I think one side would inevitably come off worse, so I can't say it for the sake of my own likability.
So, what kind of days have you been having lately?
>Ito: I was staring into the void. I had nothing left to do, lost my purpose in life, couldn't muster any energy, and that's how that VTR came about. That was Ito's genuine everyday reality. I can't even talk to people unless I drink Monster (energy drink).
Many people predicted it would be you, Ito...
>Ito: Everyone saw my past posts and was like, “It's Maki Ito!” It made me frustrated. So I went against the grain and posted a photo of Red Bull (energy drink) yesterday. I thought that might throw them off. A few people fell for it.
Did you ever consider going overseas?
>Ito: I still have ambitions for America and the world, but I think if I keep pushing here, it'll naturally lead to the world. For now, I want to conquer this place first. There are still things I haven't fully achieved in Japan, so I want to invade Japan first.
