>>19671607Lack of personal familiarity with them mostly but also understand it is entirely new ground for anti-israeli stances to be publicly acceptable. Twenty years ago being staunchly opposed to israel was treated by every publication as a socially off putting stance at best and more commonly as thinly veiled nazism.
The modern left is very good at information gathering and dumping it in a way that people who agree with them can easily digest it. The days of dismissing well founded and factually correct criticisms of israel as purely anti-semetic in their nature has come and gone. The very same smarmy, point by point nit picking style of argumentation that they taught during the BLM movement has come to bite them in the ass. Without tacit racism against middle easterners, right wing Evangelicals who feel a divine need to protect them or the ability to dismiss their critics as anti-semites the whole thing just falls apart. There is no argument to be made when the person you are debating can just put up a slideshow of maimed children and ask you what they did to deserve that.
Say the USA does worse?
They know that already and oppose it.
Say they deserved it for being muslims?
You are a racist and that has become the worst title that can be applied.
Call them anti-semitic?
The left has called everyone who opposes them nazis for a decade now and trying to apply the title to them is dismissed out of hand.
