aew punk couldnt work long term because it was genuine anger and frustrations, that made for exciting and authentic promos but it also what led to the end of his run there. wwe feels more like a talented guy playing a role, which can be compelling, but never feels genuine

Here's how I can tell you weren't watching AEW during this period. There was no established story up until that point. Hangman was champion and Punk walked out to challenge him and Hangman's first promo to set up the feud was what you are referring to. There was no "established story" that was "destroyed", Punk's feelings were hurt because of a cryptic sideways reference to something that only Punk knew about. That is not justification to assault someone.
