No. DX was legitimately cool. Kids were getting suspended from school for doing crotch chops and telling people to suck it. I'm not saying it aged the best by any means, but during its time it wasn't viewed that way at all

Yeah the parents. The teachers. That's the whole counter culture part. You had two very different generations clashing. A lot of parents didn't even want their kids watching wrestling at the time because it was too adult oriented. This is why I mentioned what I did with what things were like in the 90s. It wasn't to bullshit around the subject. It's because the context of the culture at the time is extremely relevant to why DX worked and why it was over and who it was over with that you're not going to just get an understanding from by watching the product itself all these years later

Might depend on the age group at the time, because that was the majority of kids when I was growing up. There were never more casual fans of wrestling than there were during the attitude era. Everyone was at least clued in to who Austin and the Rock and the Undertaker were or knew of the names. You were more likely to be the odd one out of it you didn't like wrestling between 98 and 2000
