In kayfabe, why would a wrestling promotion create a match stipulation where they have to fire one of their wrestlers at random?

The same reason they're doing it in real life. AMC isn't paying them anything, but their production costs have gone way up.

An extension isn't a renewal. I think the extension was just until the end of January to try and get him to re-sign for longer.
