See when Ridge lowers Big E down from the initial hug, Big E doesn't actually make proper contact with the ground for a launch, his feet were straight and as soon as he hits the ground there's a small bounce that Ridge thinks is Big E kicking up - so he's thinking it's go time but it's unassisted.
Big-E didn't really sandbag him. Ridge threw him like a sandbag sure but there was a communication / timing / being out of practice problem that lead into the accident.
But that's not the disaster part of this thing. It's that when Big E is going down ,he's first bracing for impact with his hands.
Then when he finds his fingers not getting ground, contact when he swaps to going for a roll but doesn't get his head tucked in before it's already hitting the ground ending in a sharp angle that fucked whatever is fucked in him now.
