No. He didn't know from the start Benoit did it. He did however - thanks to JBL putting the seed in his mind by asking "Do you think he did it?" - start putting two and two together due to being close to the Benoits that Chris did kill Nancy and Daniel. And even then, what could he do? Run off and tell the police Benoit was the one killing them? They'd discover it sooner than later anyway. So yeah, he played it smart and kept vague during the tribute show.

the strangest thing to me is how well respected and loved regal is throughout the industry.

why? he had a decent run that one time as a heel and then got busted for steroids (somehow). he hasn't put on any particularly memorable matches. he wasn't a big draw in the uk. his most memorable match is cause he was shooting on goldberg.
