>>19926517Eh, I think the “Wrestlemania” brand is a lot more similar to the “Super Bowl” brand than you’re giving it credit for.
No, of course, WM isn’t in the same tier as SB in terms of the viewers and revenues it pulls in. That’s not where it’s similar. The biggest difference is that “everyone” watches the Super Bowl, whereas only wrestling “fans” watch Wrestlemania.
But they are similar in the sense that it doesn’t matter who is playing. Everyone tunes into the Super Bowl regardless. And fans tune into WM regardless. It’s “card proof” in that sense.
That said, a good card is always better than a mediocre card, and that can raise the ceiling. But there is a certain floor for WM whether it’s headlined by Rock v Stone Cold or fuckin Kit Wilson v Matt Cardona.
(Ok….maybe that’s a stretch lol)
Overall, I agree with those who have said that any lag in advance sales is mostly due to it being back in Vegas again. Any local who wanted to go probably went last year. And this year, all the tourists who would usually go to Vegas for something like this aren’t going to Vegas. But for Vegas reasons, not WM reasons.
In the end, it’ll be fine.
But hopefully TKO learns not to do back to back WM’s in the same place again. Especially a place like Vegas that relies entirely on outsiders.
