I felt the same way that he was kinda corny and lifeless but ever since he won the belt he really stepped it up. He exudes with a lot more confidence and can work a mic a bit better now.

Melo has grown on me, but for his performance in the ring, not his mic work or gimmick.

The basketball “HIM” shit, though, isn’t the way forward. He’s not cool enough to pull off Trick Williams-level aura. He needs to pivot to something else.

A blue collar hardworking man of the people vibe would fit, but Ilja is kinda doing that in the midcard right now.

Yeah, that about covers it. I guess it's bit late to revamp him now that his getting some pops as the champ, moving forward would really want him to try to be something else than just basketball american who thinks/wants to be the best.
There was hints of it in the Trick Melo feud that got erased once the deed was done and Melo moved up.
Great worker though, ignoring the few goofy botches he's had.

He doesn't have to admit it. You can clearly see it was from how late and slow he took off. It still happened though and it still made Melo look like a fucking dork. He never fully recovered. It was a dumb spot they shouldn't have done
