"He was really committed to his cause," a friend close to the family revealed on condition of anonymity. "It was almost like a religion to him, lying. But he was kind of poetic about it, too, sometimes. Like, I really think it was his calling."
Some of the notes he wrote in his dying moments included such claims as "Forged steel is NOT hard," "Memories will NOT be lost in time like tears in rain," and "What's Happening was the best black comedy of the 1970s."
"He was truly one of a kind," one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter), which garnered 40K likes and was later hit with a community note that added, simply, fittingly, "At lying."
