Eddie was fantastic, but JBL carried his own weight.

Compare JBL to Jinder Mahal. Both went from low/mid card jobbers to main event champions and worked with top tier workers in their feuds. The difference between the two is that JBL was actually able to get over and stay because he's actually a decent wrestler.

Yes. His title run was a true breath of fresh air at a time when the product was getting really stale. He had a good 9 month (iirc) run at a time when hot potatoing titles was the norm. He was a true chicken shit opportunistic heel who just kept getting away with it. And then when he lost it, he never won it back. I don’t remember the majority of Big Match John or Ortons title runs or wins, but I remember almost every match and feud JBL had as champ.
