And dr omalu is known for making sensationalist claims about his work (such as the alzheimers line). The actual effects of CTE are still debated and it is not a closed subject
The CTE shit just muddies the waters because Benoit fans want to believe it and it gives them a convenient excuse. But you could take any wrestler or boxer etc and posthumously scan their brain and you would most likely find CTE. So if a wrestler kills his family does that mean it was the CTE that caused it or was he just a killer who happened to have CTE because of his occupation? Seems far more likely it is the latter. Benoit was a weirdo and he and nancy had big realtionship problems for years. She got a restraining order in 2003. The CTE is just a coincidence but of course Dr Omalu's going to make a big deal out of it because he's into brains
Theres books about the benoit stuff that go into actual detail (unlike that vice show) and you will be less likely to attribute it to a random CTE freakout when you realise how much of a shitshow the relationship was for a very long time
