Far as I remember Eddie's never wrestled in Japan and only can say he's wrestled for a Japanese promotion recently by doing NJPW Strong shows. He's just a giant King's Road fanboy and would probably get laughed at if he went to AJPW or NOAH and do what he does.

Joey was a one-man show and didn't sound half as nerdy as Excalibur. Tenay was the professor because he was THE guy who knew the backstories of the Japanese and lucha guys and was put on commentary for their matches. He didn't go overboard to sound smart and come off dweebish like Excalibur, he just was.
