You could count the people on one hand who genuinely believe this. There are far more people who believe that he had nothing to do with the success of the Attitude Era, which is fucking retarded. No one before or since Russo had such a large degree of influence over WWE's product as an outsider. He remains the only person who ever worked for WWE creative that knew how to interface wrestling with a television audience.

Those two cats made the buys fly. So did Mankind, Taker, other guys, but they had Russo's shit in their programmes. Austin and Rock only really worked with McMan and Pritchard directly, plus Brisco and Patterson without whom the era wouldn't have happened.
Russo gave us locker room hidden camera segments, bikini contests and personal drama.

He had nothing to do with their matches or results. Anything concerning main events and top tier stars were micromanaged by McMahon. Russo was there to get the midcard/circus over. He might've did stuff w/Rocky before SSeries 98 but, after that, the juvie shit ended.
Love it when these U30s make shit up about Russo & glorify him when, at the oldest, they were the age where they thought Taker was REALLY crucifying Stone Cold and Kane was an actual burn victim.

It was a different time. TV viewers wanted shocking, controversial content and that's what Russo was good at. Now in terms of providing an actually good wrestling show, Russo sucked, and was exposed hard when he went to WCW, a company where the viewers actually appreciate wrestling and not just schlocky comedy segments like the Rock N' Sock Connection and viagra on a pole. Russo has never, ever had good booking.
