Cena, even at the peak-hatred, people at least recognized that kids and women loved him and he sold a shit ton of merch. He was also doing different shows and movies. Reigns outside of Hobbs and Shaw, and I guess that brief NFL thing (that Corbin came off as better), doesn't really do anything.
I don't know, with Roman, it feels like he gets pushed regardless, where with Cena, you could at least see why he needed to be pushed even if it was to the detriment of enjoyment. Cena also was the last time someone felt bigger than the company even if he was part of the "brand" becoming the most important thing, he still has remnants of the old getting over with the fans in a natural way. Everything about Reigns felt manufactured and corporate and I guess that's why I struggle seeing him as a big star, even if he technically is WWE's only
"star" right now.
