MGS 3 > MGS 4 > MGS 1 > MGS 2 > MGS 5 >>>> Peace Walker
All down to preference though. When 5 came out I played the fuck out of it for like a year, the gameplay is amazing, but I don't find it has much replay value which is why I ranked it so low. I rarely have a desire to go play it again.
3 is the all time goat, the gameplay is a little bit aged now but still completely fun to play and the story is amazing. 4 has the perfect mix of gameplay and story. Some people don't like the story telling in 4 but I really liked it. 4 is also amazing to do murder everyone play throughs on because the guns feel really great.
MGS 1 is obviously the OG and has amazing atmosphere, boss fights and pacing (besides the one back tracking bit). And only one you properly get to play as Solid in his prime. Then MGS 2 the story is amazing, has some great bossfights, Solidus is a based character, Tanker mission is absed and the bit at the end where the AI goes mental is amazing but all in all I still do rate it below the rest.
