Heard a clip from Cornette about the backstage promo between Keith Lee and Ricky Starks, right before Revolution. The one where Keith actually got to respond after Starks initially interrupted him.

Cornette criticized Keith for sounding like Frasier Crane, despite being a big black guy. And that the WWE were right to want Keith to change and Keith was wrong/difficult for not wanting to.

Do y'all agree with the assessment? Is Keith's presentation of a big black man who talks like Frasier Crane too jarring, and that he should be flexible enough to tweak his presentation? How would you fix Keith Lee? Should he be angry and aggressive like Bearcat? A jivin' sort of cat like Godfather or even Junkyard Dog? Or should he not speak at all and just have a manager to be his mouthpiece?

He sounds like Adam West's Batman... same cadence, articulation, and diction... to the degree that it's off-putting. With West, it was a self-aware dim person trying to act smart for a role. With Lee, it's like he's trying to sound smart, and '68 Batman is his only frame of reference. Ends up being a unique pro-wrestling promo style, but it's also not very good sounding to most people.
