>>4778221HCTP is more fun to pick up and play but Day of Reckoning 2 had much more depth. Day of Reckoning 2 you would have matches where it would naturally just play out like an irl main event match. I hate the sim games these days and it wasn't that, but it felt a bit more real. You could also be way more creative in Day of Reckoning 2 because it was a lot more free flowing compared to HCTP which could feel like a monorail. For example in HCTP you can't break up submissions or moves so if you are in a multi man match or tag match and you want to break up a finisher or submission to save the match you can't. You also gotta stand there and watch The Rock do the people's elbow to your partner which is kinda dumb. Day of Reckoning also let you do more inventive spots because of this. For example you could set up a table outside of the ring, put a chair ontop of it, put your opponent ontop of that and then set a ladder up inside and do a Swanton onto your opponent through the table and chair.
I can't really choose between them as I love both games but Day of Reckoning 2 is massively underrated. Mainly because most people's parents only bought them a PS2 and so they grew up literally console warring on gamefaqs and IGN about how Smackdown games are the best because they couldn't play the Nintendo ones.
