Are there any modern examples of a wrestler grabbing the brass ring and becoming a success story? Forcing Vince to push them instead of the usual horsewomen, Brock and Roman? I can't think of any.

Becky makes sense since she was a fan favorite and they actually tried to turn her into a heel against Charles and the fans did NOT like that and started cheering for Becky. Vince was so out of touch he even had Becky say the usual heel turn promo about how the "fans turned on me" even though they didn't and they cheered her as she came out and during the promo. So yeah that could be a good choice but she's corporate as fuck and cringe now.

If the boys in the back say you job, then you job. I think a lot of it is ego, they see the "potential" in someone so they push them and can't then retract it so they'll bury natural fan favorites in favor of their chosen ones.

hes having one of the main matches at mania with edge though. vince can handpick a guy then throw him to the dogs if he fails to "grab the ring", remember drew when he had the based theme? so time will tell with theory.
