Crowd investment and story is part of match ratings and Roman's never going to be in a story where the crowd is so invested that they can give it that push to make it a 5 star match, because it's impossible for that kind of story to exist in WWE. Also, yes, he kind of sucks.

He's the token champ that goes through everyone else. Bryan Danielson was the last and only really great feud he had in the 2 years he's held the belt. WWE sadly anchored itself to him this long. They would have been better to have the belt rotate a few times rather than it being stuck on him. Fans of WWF / WWE will not look back on Roman as being an all time great. This is the curse. They fucked him over while getting better TV deals.
