If you mean in-ring:
- Japan's culture is all about trying to do things perfectly and accurately. That's why they make a lot of high quality things.
- Japan doesn't have the team sports or sports options that we do, so there's less competition for recruits. They have baseball and soccer and then more individual sports.
- Most of Japanese wrestling takes place in Tokyo. Tokyo is one of the largest cities in the world and it can support a lot of wrestling. You can see all kinds of different styles and learn from a bunch of smart wrestling minds in a single train ride, while you'd need to go great distances to do that here.
- Japanese schedules give the wrestlers more time to heal, allowing them to do wilder and more exciting matches.
- TV and PPV never took off as much in Japan like it did here. It kept the promotions more even with each other and helped preventing a Japanese version of the WWF. Talent also wasn't leaving promotions and getting poached until more recently, which again helped keep the balance. It also kept other sports from getting too far ahead of wrestling due to TV money like they did here.
