Tony Khan seems to put more effort into Punk's storylines than booking his world champion as a big deal. At least having Phil as the AEW champion would no longer make the title be presented as a midcard championship.

I originally thought MJF over Hangman was the long term plan which may get nixed given how much of an after thought Hangman is, plus he seems to be getting those 50/50 cheer-boos which is never a good look for a babyface champion
