Pete Dunne and a lot of the NXT UK guys practically started the big indie wrestling boom around 2015-2018 in Bongland. Like doing pretty well for themselves. Then they sold it all away to be part of NXT UK. So rather than independently running their own thing and being their own bosses, you get Butch on SmackDown

The original Haitch NXT's plan was to completely cripple the indie revolution that happened around the mid-late 2010's by opening NXT locations in hotspots like Europe and Japan as well as having the American NXT be a Trojan horse to kill the American indies. While the plan failed because AEW showed that the American indies we're relatively safe from getting totally swamped and the Asian indies we're too far entrenched to be ousted, Haitch's plan completely annihilated Brian's indie scene. Pete made a tweet saying how everything was fine which now in hindsight is hilarious
