The Montreal thing, DX HBK being a legitimately great heel (we were robbed of another year of that), Tyson coming in, Austin of course, and all of this happening while WCW was starting to shit itself. That last part is a big part of the equation, because if WCW was still as interesting as it was in early NWO days, it wouldn't have mattered how good a show WWF put on, nobody would have seen it. WCW opened the door to channel flipping, and WWF was improving at that same time.
