I would have thought it would be a genius move especially with the line hangman said that he always lies and then said “I’ll keep this belt forever” or something. You could have had bryan beat him in the first defense and do another sad cowboy angle which could have gotten him more sympathy. Then bryan could have gotten a lot of heat following his line he said before “I don’t wanna fight you and beat you because you weren’t ready” and say this is exactly what he didn’t want and that there is no one in aew who can give him a real challenge.
