why is there fans act like such cult members? AEW is not even a big deal compared to the the WWE so I'm not understanding why there fans make such a fuss about it

it seems kind of crazy to me and is very off-putting. I am a fan of WWE (obviously) but I don't obsess about it. I can only speak for myself but the reason I only watch WWE is it's the only show that feels big enough to care about. I liked WCW, a little too young for ECW but knew of it and was excited by it, I liked ROH and TNA to a lesser extent, NJPW when it was really popular in the 2010s. My tastes are usually pretty out there with regards to art, movies, music etc, usually being popular doesn't mean better but with sport and especially pro wrestling, the whole draw is feeling like you're witnessing something huge. WWE barely achieves this these days but other companies don't even come close. I can't get invested in AEW because there are no stakes because it ultimately doesn't matter on the world stage.
