Why do people feel the need to be contrarians about literally everything on here? Good speech but obviously it's weird not to mention Foley at all. Mentioning "boiler room brawl" in passing isn't the same since he was just listing the various stupid gimmick matches he's been in, and barely anybody remembers the boiler room brawl compared to the hell in a cell. Foley put Taker over huge in the HIAC and helped make it Taker's specialty match for the rest of his career. It was one of the top 3 most memorable matches of the attitude era and the footage was used in Taker hype packages for 20 years. It is a legendary match. If Vince didn't mention Foley amongst all those guys he listed either then it's clear there was some rule against mentioning him

HIAC 97 is a far better match and Kane's debut is dimes.
HIAC 98 is a better spectacle. It's a thirty minute prolonged train crash. You keep watching but not for the right reasons. But ultimately all that really matters in wrestling is spectacle, not workrate

Taker would have still been a cartoony character wearing corpse paint and purple gloves if it wasn't for Foley. It was their feud in 1996 that brought out the Lord of Darkness that all you jabroni marks love. It's only memorable because Foley got thrown off the cage and then got put through it (which is now just a highspot in pretty much every HIAC) Other than that it is kind of a shitty match especially for HIAC. There are several better ones
