It's more to do with wastage. Nobody orders the shit so you end up with eggs and sausage patties sitting there for hours cooked because the managers get uppity about throwing shit.
Also the way the kitchens operate basically force you to batch cook because I can't pause my grill that's cooking nothing but cheeseburger patties for 50 people outside cause one cunt wants a sausage muffin.
Not doing hotcakes is kind of bullshit though since we'd just microwave those, the only annoying part about them is you cant sling them down the food chute cause they open if you do.

Funniest shit i've heard all day mate. If you want shit fresh get it during busy periods when it's all fresh up anyway or order it without salt. That's the only time we'd ever cook stuff to order.
I've worked shifts where eggs would be in the tray from 10:30 to dinner time, same with the grilled chicken. For wastage reasons and because the egg machine we had was dogshit and you had to run it 2-3 times to get the eggs cooked enough to serve.
