I think WWE found out the hard way there really isn't enough demand for two nights of WrestleMania. Everyone bought a ticket to the first night and a significant portion of them didn't bother buying a separate ticket for night 2. New Japan had the same problem.

Night 1 was pretty stacked. The biggest draw on night 2 was Sami vs Knoxville and i'm not joking.

I think it sort of works for New Japan more, given it's more workrate oriented, letting matches have more time. Not to say that all matches gotta be long, but I remember watching some matches on the earlier WKs which did quite feel like they needed more time

They had 110,000 tickets sold between the two nights plus all the merch, concessions and whatever else. And they got to hurt various indies by running two nights.

I don't like Mania being two nights either, but they made a lot of extra money off of by running two nights and aren't stopping any time soon.

If night one had 77,899 in attendance then that means 32,101 paid for night two which does validate OP's point that a lot people weren't willing to pay for both nights.
