This is a show that does weekly Wardlow squash matches AND 60 minute time limit draws. The problem isn't fucking match length it's Tony Khan's outright fear of having a plotline run through a goddamn episode of dynamite. Make CM Punk open and close a show, and have the midcarders remind you he exists. Next week it's fucking someone else. Vince didn't invent this stuff, it's just tv wrestling. You have to have a story.

If you're a big enough name, you automatically get to challenge high ranked fighters & then challenge for the championship. When Brock went to UFC, they didn't waste his time pitting him against jobbers. They threw him against has-beens, but has-beens who were big names during their era. Brock got to challenge for the Heavyweight championship on only his third fight. That's what Gayew always gets wrong. They claim to be sport-based, but they do retarded bullshit like sign Daniel Bryan & Cm Punk around the same time and instead of doing the logical thing by making their first match against each other. What they did with Punk was a whole lot of nothing. Dbry actually did have a series of interesting matches which ended against the championship match with Page. I'm guessing that Danielson was picking out his opponents early on, because his trajectory actually did come off like a combat sport up until he lost to Adam Page. Punk's series of opponents were just a bunch of random chumps & make it look like he were some random no-name starting from the bottom when he's Punk. Punk is the biggest or second biggest name at AEW aside for Jericho & Dbry but Punk isn't booked like a big deal. He's booked as just another dude in an over bloated roster. Granted, UFC did the same exact thing with Punk but that's because they were trying to give Punk some easy wins.

Its a qualifying match for a tournament retard. Almost like the build is going to DoN or something over mutiple weeks. Also the "bad booking" has lead to DoN being sold out along with the LA debut show.
