Meltzer has claimed for years that live shows don't really draw more but this is a situation where you have one show that always has some tease that something unexpected will happen, and another show where you know nothing is going to happen.
This makes rampage seem far less important than dynamite

Last week's Rampage did bad because AEW ran against itself and a very busy Wrestlemania Weekend. Rampage was just not a priority for me or a lot of fans.

Rampage is a secondary show. They can claim its not and they can try to make it not be, but until everything about it changes, it is. The time needs to change, the length of it needs to change, the day maybe needs to change and it needs bigger matches and so forth. And even if you do manage all of that, people only have so much time and only so much time available to devote to wrestling, and it will likely still have some drop off.

I feel the same way. They need to treat rampage like smackdown was from 99-2002 (pre-draft). It was a transitional show from one Raw to the next but the stories and angles continued into smackdown. At the end of raw something would happen and the announcers would promote smackdown to the viewing audience saying something like, “what’s going to happen on smackdown, between Triple H and the Rock.” Then you’d tune into smackdown and the angle would pick up from there. Rampage almost seems like a stand alone show that’s disconnected from dynamite.
