It's not the steroids.
It's the steroids, the painkillers and wrestling 300+ days per year. The wrestling is the worst part, it destroys your body. Rugby players play at most one match a week, wrestlers are doing the same thing 6 nights a week.

Rugby players train multiple times a week and at least one of those training sessions is with low/mid contact. The difference is, they are drilled constantly to minimise risk and I jury causing situations whereas wrestlers are tumbling clowns.

For the younger stars including main eventers they definitely will be doing five or six days a week. You realise that when Raw/Smackdown/PPVs aren't on they're doing house shows in the same venues every night? These are used as rehearsals for the televised shows, and the best way to sell tickets is having your big stars wrestling.

Training is not the same as going out for 80 minutes against another 15 huge blokes. You are right though that the training helps them get injured less, whereas wrestlers are pretty much guaranteed to get injured.

He was most likely just on "sports TRT" during his later years to maintain his size, I dont believe he was blasting steroids at his age. Most likely regular blood work monitoring. Steroids dont cause pneumonia in lungs suddenly at 50 years old. Now the clogged artery, steroids might have contributed to that but genetics were more in play there, millions of 50 year old men have blockages in their arteries without ever touching steroids.

He was only really hurt career wise. He wasn't shoot dating Stephanie like Hunter and Chyna were dating, Test was just the guy Russo picked for the storyline then when he fucked off to WCW before finishing it that's when HHH was able to step in and put himself in the story.

And even then can you really say Test's career was hurt by this? Would he be considered a Hall of Famer or go on to win any major championships having the son-in-law gimmick? Or would he flounder around in the mid card shifting from shitty angle to shitty angle like he ended up doing anyways?

Everyone thought the name Test was a funny testosterone joke, but it was literal. Vince was naturally skeptical about Stephanie dating one of the boys and had to test both their relationship and Hunters ability to act under pressure. He had Test booked to be a very similar look to Hunter, but bigger. Kind of a Gary Oak character (but sadly with zero personality). If Hunter got worked into a shoot by the booking of Steph/Test then he knew he wouldn't be cut out for life at the top of the family firm.

Paul passed the test and then got rid of him once his power was consolidated.
