He spent thousands of dollars to go to art school and become an animator. He complains to me a lot that even with all his "Experience" he isn't as good an artist as I am.
I went to life drawing classes with live models for years, and have dozens of sketchbooks filled exclusively with life practice shading and drawing complex objects. Studied art history and done a ton of practice pieces replicating different styles.
I tell him he needs to practice more. he tells me he "draws every day." I look at his stuff. Cartoon after cartoon after cartoon. Nothing complex, nothing that a child couldn't do. He gets mad at me when I tell him that doesn't count.
What the fuck do these people expect? If you don't do the hard, gruelling work to hone your skills, you are not going to fucking improve.
