Today's ZSJ match was not the typical Okada match either, Okada until the last twenty seconds never felt super secure the way he usually does after he hits the DDT on the floor. He never got the top rope dropkick, and I'm surprised the commentary didn't sell how Okada was pulling out a few submission moves that we don't usually see from Okada. ZSJ got a higher percentage of the match's offense in than most of Okada's opponents; when Charleton brought up Inoki/Robinson there was a large part of me that was hoping we would see a sixty minute stoppage. Even if ZSJ lost here he looked like a million dollars and I think they would be stupid if they didn't have some plan to put the belt on him at some point after Okada gets another long reign. It's more likely to be Naito or Ospreay that unseats him than ZSJ, but I think either of them but especially Ospreay could be just as fitting a guy for ZSJ win the belt from.

It's a new lineage for the specific title but it's not like the Universal Title or anything.
Also you can't make that drastic change without changing the physical belt. They shouldn't have either way, but you can't halfass it by just put "World" on the current belt.

I just don't see why they needed a new lineage; the current WWE championship has had 14 names, three instances of "World" being added to it and two unifications and this still lists the same lineage going back to Buddy Rogers. Surely they could have just said that the IC lineage ended with Ibushi but the Heavyweight championship is a continuation of what started with Inoki? and had a nicer belt at least on part with V1-3 if not V4.

If you watch regularly, you know this.
We've got Shooter coming back, we've got Tsuji and Uemura out there on excursion both looking like future IWGP hebby champs, and the current Young Lions look even better and they're even younger. Combine that with guys like Ospreay and Jay, both shy of 30, who you can hopefully keep for a while, and things are looking good.
