It's still a kids movie, but it's much more of a Sonic movie than first one was. If you care about Sonic, you'll probably get a lot out of it. If you don't, it's just a decent little kids adventure flick.

It's actually much more annoying than the generally accepted narrative of "Sonic was good in 2D, bad in 3D." What's actually happened is Sonic will have stretches of 2-3 good games in a row, then suck for a decade, then go back to being good for a couple years, then go back to sucking for a decade.

Who the fuck would wait for Sega's schizophrenic PPVs when PlayStation has a set release date and pricing all neatly ahead of schedule and all the marks are waiting for the Nintendo 64?
Saturn's 3D also wasn't that good, they couldn't have done a good Sonic game for the Saturn (and afaik they never made a Sonic game for it besides Sonic R) if they tried.
