He would've, it's just that a lot of the ideas he had wouldn't have worked during the pandemic and he himself just said fuck it and decided to just be plain old Matt Hardy until he brought back the Big Money Matt gimmick.

Broken Matt, handled correctly could've been WWE champion or at least an upper mid card / occasional main event threat - but it was never going to happen in WWE; could still happen in AEW if Tony gets tired of his other toys
