>>5253809>businessman first But he's a shit businessman. AEW has a massive, bloated roster, and Khan continues to make business moves like the ROH acquisition and NJPW partnership that superserve his existing audience but do nothing to expand it. He doesn't need to superserve this fanbase at all because he already has them and they already worship everything about his product.
He's sunk tens of millions into a video game pet project for Omega whose early screenshots make the graphics look worse than a lot of cell phone games, and is destined to lose money when it comes out even if it's good because AEW is so niche.
Everyone keeps talking about AEW getting some deal with HBOMax, but while they now have a big library it is now almost entirely very low production value stuff, which is even more hyper-niche than AEW itself, and which wasnt a draw in the first place which is how Tony got it. Warner likely views the small number of additional subscribers this would bring to the platform as not worth the tradeoff of having these low-production value mudhows (ROH (and maybe NJPW if it was included) much moreso than AEW) diluting HBO's image as a prestige brand.
