how do thumbtack bumps work? when i touch my back i can feel the ridges of my spine, wouldnt there be the risk of a tack piercing the spine and hitting a vertebrae or nerve? theyre not all gimmicked either cause ive seen close ups of them getting stuck in wrestlers

The thumbtacks used in wrestling are the same ones you can buy at any office supply store. They are not "gimmicked" or shortened. (Who the fuck would take the time to shorten each of the thousands of thumbtacks used in a match?) They aren't that long to begin with and the chances of a serious injury with them are minimal. They do hurt like a motherfucker and leave bruises and a little blood but otherwise they're harmless.

I recall someone saying in a shoot interview that they take out all the bracing from inside the acoustic part. So it basically just collapses when you hit someone with it.

there's bracing on the inside of the hollow body for strength and support. they remove the inner bracing when they gimmick a guitar, then they always hit the opponent with the back so their head just pops right through.

Dumb mark.
Take out half the tacks and flatten them under a heavy plate. Put them back in the bag. Steiner math lets you spitball how many tacks actually go point-up on the mat (not too many). You've just cut that in half. Don't let the cameras get a close-up of the tacks and you're only exposed by how little they glisten on the skin of whoever takes a bump on them.
